West Byfleet Project: Spray painting
We took on this job from a top quality local builder, Jupiter Installations, with a view to add our signature touch to further enhance their workmanship. It was a pleasure to work on this job from start to finish, working with Jupiter Installations, Mapletree Carpentry as well as the clients themselves.
We started in the Boot Room, the focal point of the build, by spray painting the new plaster using our AAA machine. We then moved on to spray painting the various pieces of bespoke furniture, design and built by Mapletree Carpentry, in a dark grey using Benjamin Moore Scuff X products with an eggshell finish. We then gave the customer a creative option by continuing the grey theme throughout by spraying the skirting boards, architraves and doors entering the Shower Room and Snug. Initial designs would have left these white, but we wanted to give the customer a unique, seamless design.
After completing the Boot Room, we then finished the Snug and Shower Room, leaving only the bi-fold room remaining. For this we offered the customer a similar style, instead of painting the skirting boards white, we continued the dark grey theme to the wood, matching the bi-fold doors, providing a tranquil area for the customer to relax.
Paints: It was imperative for all areas to receive a highly durable and hard wearing paint coverage as they are high traffic rooms. We provided our recommendation and the customer was happy to proceed. For the wood, we used the most durable water based paint on the market today, Benjamin Moore Scuff X, an ultra spec wood finish paint. For the walls we used Mathys Coatings, with a 1% sheen and offering maximum wash-resistance. For the solid oak surfaces, we sanded these back to an ultra fine finish and applied Osmo Oil, a natural hard-wax oil with a clear satin finish.
